Easter in Tennessee

Niko and I spent Easter in Tennessee with my sister's family and my parents. Neil had to work so Niko and I took the trip by ourselves. My sister hosted an Easter egg hunt for Ryan and Niko on Saturday.

Jenny, Ryan and Niko had a blast playing together... when they weren't bickering over certain toys. Oh well. I chalk it up to them not being able to play together more often.

Niko Therapy

The weirdest thing has happened in the last day or so. Last night, Niko picked up Tangent's collar off the counter last night and asked what happened. I told him that Tangent had to go bye-bye. (Which was really hard to say.)

Then Niko "turned" into a cat and laid down on the Elmo chair like she used to and meowed at me. It was strangely comforting to me. Niko has been playing a cat for the past two nights now. (And yes... it is funny to see him run around with those horns on... very telling....)

RIP Tangent

I took this photo right before I took Tangent to the vet for the last time. This was her home away from my bed. Neil bought this chair at a garage sale for Niko, but it quickly turned into Tangent's favorite nap spot.


As you can see, Tangent had lost quite a bit of weight. I didn't event think it was possible for a cat to get that small and still live, but she did. She weighed under 2.5 pounds when I brought her to the vet for the last time. She was starving to death and was only holding on by a small thread.

She had a great 18 years of life, 17 of them spent with me. I lost a great companion today, but I valued every day that was given to me.... even in the end. I will miss her so much.

Big Boy Furniture

Niko's big boy furniture was delivered this week. This is what I walked into when I got home. Whew... what a mess.

Niko checking out his new furniture. He was very impressed and thought the Easter Bunny brought his new furniture..... uh, no. Mommy and Daddy bought that for you.

This is what his room looks like now. We still have decorating left to do, but his new room is almost done!

Surprise!

Surprise! Yes... that is what you think it is! We are expecting a little bundle the first week of September. :) We are leaking it here first... then Facebook so it is official. We haven't told Niko that he will have to share his toys soon... yikes.

Ferb drawing

Niko came running into the kitchen excited to show me his drawing of Ferb from Phineas and Ferb on the Disney Channel.

Here is closeup of his drawing and a reference photo of what Ferb actually looks like. Not bad for a 3-year-old! :)

Big Boy Bedroom!

Niko is officially in his big boy room!!! I just finished putting the "wings" on his bed. We asked him on Friday if he wanted to sleep in his big boy room and he said yes! We were shocked but ready to get him in. He did roll out of bed Saturday night so off to the store today to buy some bed rails.

Look how happy he is in his new big boy bed....

And here he is "sleeping." Next week we are going to get some better furniture for his new room. Sweet! We were aiming to have him in his new room by summer!
