Zoo dayz

Today was a BEAUTIFUL day to go to the zoo. You can't tell from the photo, but he is wearing his glow-in-the-dark skeleton onesie. He was very good at the zoo - he really likes his Baby Bjorn.

Roarrrrrr.... give me some candy

Niko is going to be a dinosaur for Halloween this year. He won't be actually tricker-treating this year because he can't eat the candy yet. We plan to go to the zoo tomorrow for "Boo at the Zoo".

It looks like he's trying to swipe at you.... so cute!

Laughing and playing

Niko has started to laugh and play. He has been smiling and babbling for a couple of weeks, but now he gets all excited and squeals.

Introducing the next Guitar Hero

Neil is reviewing the new Guitar Hero World Tour for Ink this week so I decided to have a bit of fun. Here he is rocking the microphone, guitar and drums.

Niko and I preformed a duet - Livin' on a Prayer by Bon Jovi.

Favorite places

Niko has favorite places around the house. He loves his rocking chair - whenever he gets really fussy we take him for a ride in the glider. He calms down in a few minutes and if you keep rocking him, he's asleep in 10 minutes.

Niko loves his changing table. I think he likes it because he's up off the ground and closer to your face. I LOVE this changing table - it's waterproof, antibacterial and needs no covers. The best thing is that it cleans ups with a baby wipe - and it has high walls so he can't roll off as easily.

7 weeks = 3 month clothes

Niko is officially into 3 month clothes.... at 7 weeks. He's too long for his 0-3 month clothes. He has his 2 month checkup next week - I'm interested to see what his height/weight are now.

New favorite thing

Niko has a new favorite toy - the bouncy seat. He doesn't like to be put down for too long, but he was in this for almost an hour. Maybe tomorrow we can go for an hour and a half . . .

Crabbies

Today was a case of the crabbies. At first I thought he was feeling under the weather, but now I think he was just Mr. Crabby Pants. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a bit better - I think he's bored looking around the house. Maybe we will go on a field trip tomorrow.

Kitty cat

You knew it was just a matter of time before I dressed him up as a kitty cat.

Vaccine questions

Niko is scheduled for his first round of vaccines in 2 weeks. I must admit I am a bit concerned about the link between Autism and vaccines recently. I have my list of questions to ask before they stick him with anything.

It's interesting that Europe and Asia have very different schedules for vaccinations. They don't give some of the vaccinations until the children are 12 that we give at 18 months.

Any thoughts on this?

Yet another Halloween photo post

Here is yet another Halloween outfit. Be prepared for lots of these - I picked up tons of Halloween shirts/outfits. I can't help it... I'm a sucker for Halloween garb and Niko loves hamming it up for the camera.

This week has been the week of
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. According to the books, this is on track for his development. He is happy and smiley one minute and a terror the next. He's in the 6-8 week growth spirt and has been acting the part. He's one hungry/happy/fussy little man right now! :)

Made you something

Today is Neil and I's two year wedding anniversary. Niko decided that since he couldn't buy us something, he would make us something. He made it all by himself - all over himself, the bed and Neil's pants. Yea... gross.

Soooooo romantic.

This photo is from an earlier "arts and crafts" session that I captured on my camera phone.

Halloween time

Anyone that knows me knows that Halloween is my favorite time of year. And from the looks of it, Niko likes it too! Look at all those smiles when he's in his Halloween clothes. :)

New skillz

As we head into week 6, Niko is displaying some new skills. He has started to babble quite a bit. It's soooo cute! I'm going to try tape it sometime this week. He has also started to interact with the toys that surround him. He's really becoming aware of his surroundings.

Of course with all new developments, they come with a cost. He is pretty fussy right now. According to everything that I have read, this is common with the 6-8 week growth spirt. We just have to weather the storm.

Captain Adorable

Soooo cute. All except for that rash that is... I took Niko to the doctors on Friday for a weird rash that is all over his body. The doctor said that it's either an allergic reaction to a soap/lotion or eczema. Eczema is hereditary and it has had success traveling down the Morris side of my family. I'm hoping its not eczema and something that can be treated.

On the upside, Niko is now 10 pounds, 3 ounces.... what a chunker!

Bless you!

Too cute! Ho
pefully this is not a sign that he inherited Mommie's allergies.

Nerves of steel

Oh how I dread cutting Niko's fingernails - it really puts your nerves to the test. I got up the guts to cut them this morning while I was nursing him. Success!

Happy times

Last night was Niko's first bath without screaming. To be honest it was almost eerie to have bathtime be so quiet. It's the first time he seemed to relax and enjoy the bath. Usually he would start crying the second we took his clothes off. Then, when he hit the water he would stiffen up straight as a board. Hopefully this is how bathtime will be like this from now on!

Uncle Mark - the human swing! It only took Uncle Mark about 4 minutes to get Niko to sleep. I think this is a lucrative business opportunity for him......

Busy Monday

Yea - third time is the charm!!!! Niko finally passed his hearing test. He heard fine in both ears. He had two hearing tests at the hospital -both ears failed the first time and his left ear failed the second time. He will have to go back when he is 9 months old to have the test done again due to my family's history with hearing problems.

He did not enjoy getting all of the electrodes attached. It was pretty tricky getting him asleep so they could preform the test.... it was touch and go, but we got through it.

After our appointment I dropped by my office to show Niko around. The top photo is Niko with one of the other designers I work with Lisa.

He found a new friend, my co-worker Lora. He really liked her - he smiled and cooed at her the whole time she held him. In the last photo, Lora is showing Niko around my cubical..... nerd alert.

Graduation day!

Niko has officially graduated from a newborn to an infant today! He is now one month old! :)

We went to Target today to get his one month photos taken. He did really well during the photo shoot, but there was a minor disaster after the session. Niko has the ability to poop up and out of the back of his diaper and he showed everyone at Target his talent. Yea.... not so cool.

So I cleaned him and his car seat up as best as I could in the bathroom and got the heck out of there. Scrub-a-dub when we got home. Ahhh... the joys of motherhood.

Walking weather

Niko is finally getting to the point that he loves going for walks. For the first few weeks he would cry until he fell asleep, but now it's better. This week he's been awake for the whole walk - just checking things out.
