We visited Aunt Alyssa this weekend and she gave Niko this neat playmat. It's inflatable and you fill the center with water. The bugs in the pond move as you push around on the mat. Niko is fascinated by the bugs in the pond.

Sandbox to go with your Water Playmat: I just read somewhere, that if you want your baby to have a sandbox in the winter; you can get a big tupperware container, and put oatmeal in it. If it gets tossed out, sweep it and put it outside for the birds. If they eat it, it's good for them. When they are done, put the lid on, and save for later. Of course they have to be eating baby cereal, but I thought it was a good idea.
