Pikachu!!!

This is Niko's Con outfit.  I didn't have time to make one this year so I bought one, actually two.  Next year, I will plan better.  I wasn't planning on going in costume this year.... then Con-fever got the best of me.  This isn't my favorite version of this costume, but it isn't as big or as hot.  I think that Niko will be able to last the con in this version.  He laughed when he saw it and likes being in it.

This is the costume I really like... can you tell by my face?  This costume was made by the Warner Brother's store so it's made very well.

It was like I had a real-life Pikachu in the house!

So cute!!!  He has several Pikachu toys so he knows who he is. 

I'm going to put him in his costume every night until the con to get him used to it.  And because I love it!!!!  I hope to finish my costume tonight.

Getting Con-ready!

We are getting ready for the Chicago-Con.  The hat I ordered for my costume came in yesterday.  Niko liked playing with it ALMOST as much as playing with the box it came in.

I started my costume last night only to realize that the size on the pattern I'm using is WAY off.  I thought I would be a M-L in it and I'm actually a XS-S.  Sooo... I have to tear apart the shirt and resize it tonight!

Lovin' the dino

Niko loves playing with the dino.  I bought him some more peek-a-block toys for his birthday.  I know it's kinda tacky to give him used toys for his birthday, but they don't make them anymore and he loves them!  He will get lots of other toys too, but I have a feeling the peek-a-block toys will be his favorite!

So... I kinda had to hold him down and pry his mouth open so you can see his top teeth.  They are coming in nicely!  :)

10 month photo

One of my favorites so far.  Niko turns 11 months on Sunday so this photo is a bit old now... but it's still pretty cute.   :)

Dinner at Grandma O's

Last night we went over to Shelly's mom's house... also known as "Grandma O".  She made Laksa, a Malaysian soup and some spring rolls.  Sooo good.  She made it for me for my birthday - so sweet!  Niko ate some of the noodles (he's offering to share some with you here!).  He really liked the spring rolls (the top photo shows him wearing some of it) and the tiny muffins that Grandma O made just for him.

I'm a horrible mom... but it's just too funny.  Hehehheheh.  Watch him walk/cry for the biscuit! 

The long ride home...

No matter how happy/excited we are when we leave daycare... we can't seem to stay awake for the ride home.

How daddy cleans

This is how daddy prefers to clean up after Niko is done eating.  We had fish fillets for dinner and Niko fed himself.  Fish fillet = big mess.

And yes..... Neil did vacuum him clean.

Mom2Mom

I posted these photos on my Facebook account too.  These photos taken were taken when Niko was about 4 months old.  I blog for the local paper, the Kansas City Star once a week.  Every now and again they take excerpts from my blog and put it in the paper.  It was part of my "Keep Neil employed that the Star" plan. 

This is the most true photo of our family yet.  Niko is beating me up and Neil is laughing.

Again???

Yea....  we were on our way to Best Buy yesterday when I smelled a familiar smell.  I looked behind me and saw a poopie hand waving at me.  Sooo gross.  So I turned around and headed home to clean up the disaster.  I only had my cell phone camera with me this time.  Look at that sad-panda face!

After I cleaning the car seat and a quick bath, I gave Niko the new(ish) toy we bought for him.  I bought this off Craigslist for $10.  A little scrubbing and the dino is good as new!  :)

Walking toys

We have been practicing with some walking toys.  He took a few steps by himself at daycare yesterday and at home last night.  I'm not sure he knows he's walking yet.... when he figures it out - we will be in trouble!

Tupperware party!

No matter how many toys I buy... all Niko wants to play with is normal house hold items.  He loves tupperware lids, the flashlight and a picture frame that has our engagement photo in it!

First steps!!!!

We have been on step watch for a few weeks now and last night he finally did it!!!  He took 3 steps trying to get to Matrix.  Then he took another step right after that.  Unfortunately Neil wasn't home for is first steps, but he walked another 3 steps right after Neil got home.

So exciting!!!

No Doubt!

We saw No Doubt last night and it was one of the best shows I have ever been to!  Look at those washboard abs on Gwen after two kids.... ugh.  Niko spent the night with his Abuelos while we had a night out.

Busy weekend!

Here I am practicing up for the Comic-Con.  Niko and I are geared up and ready to look at some art.  It had been a while since I went to First Fridays - have baby back pack, will travel!

For the 4th we were invited to a BBQ at Angela's house.  (Angela is Niko's daycare provider.)  Niko had a blast playing with Tucker and Tanner.  I can't wait for him to start walking so he doesn't have to be in his baby outdoor prison - the exersaucer.  Niko liked it when I put the frog on his head for him to balance it.

The Apels came to visit us over the weekend so we took them to the new Block gallery at the Nelson.  Here is Niko and Neil checking out the sculpture.

Here is everyone catching a breather at the Power and Light district.  We had a great time and can't wait to see them again sometime soon!  :)

10 months old today!

Niko's babysitter sent this to me yesterday.  It shows her two boys, Tucker and Tanner in the pool with Niko.  Looks like they had a great time swimming while I was at work... boo.....
