Cookout

Who doesn't like cooking hotdogs and s'mores on the firepit?  :)  Monica and her clan came over for a cookout this weekend.

This sweaty little guy is loving his s'more.

And of course what they really liked playing with was the hammock.

Planter updates

It has been a week and change since we planted our seeds.  I am very glad that they have sprouted so Niko now has something to look at in the pots.  :)

These are tomato and pepper plants.

These are chive, dill, sage and bok choy plants.

Dentist Superstar

Niko went to the dentist for the first time today.  They did a great job with showing him all of the tools and explaining what they were doing to him.  Here he is getting a chair ride.  He looks like a diva with those shades on and reclining in the chair!

The hygienist was showing Niko the tooth polisher and letting him smell the tooth polish.  He picked bubble gum flavoring.  She spun the tool on his finger so he could see that it didn't hurt, only tickled.

Opening up wide like he's done this his whole life.

I  was SHOCKED how well he did.  I thought for sure he would freak out when she started polishing his teeth, but he did great.  We kept telling him how shiny his teeth were getting.

Dr. Spencer (my dentist) came in and counted his teeth (checking them for cavities.)  He's up to 20 teeth and she said they look great!  He had no cavities and got a fluoride treatment for maintenance.

He did a great job and got two prizes, a sticker and a SpongeBob toothbrush.  Now he thinks the dentist is an awesome place with rides and prizes.  Sweet.

Disaster Nursery

This is what the nursery looks like right now.  Disaster time.  I would say I am about 1/3 of the way done getting all of Niko's baby stuff cleaned up and unpacked.  We moved when Niko was over a year old so some of it I don't remember where we put it in the new house.  When I finally find it, I have to carve out a spot for it.... groan.

I found all of his old clothes from ages 0-9 months and have them cleaned and unpacked.  I know where the 12 month clothes are, but I don't have room for them yet.  Next weekend, I plan to start cleaning this room up and getting the crib/changing table ready.

Then I will attempt to get the old car seats, toys and gear together, cleaned and organized.  We may have to thin out some of Niko's MASSIVE amount of toys to make it all fit in his toy room.  Yikes.... we will see how that goes!  :)

Godfather Mark

You wouldn't believe it from the photos, but Niko BEGS Mark to beat him up with pillows.  I am surprised these photos turned out at all.... I was laughing so hard the camera was shaking.

Big thanks to Mark and Shelly for coming over yesterday and to Mark for beating my son up with pillows.  He loves you guys!

6 months along....

This pict is for mom... my evening belly.  I know it sounds funny, but I actually 'stick out' more in the evening.  :)  This is how I looked when I was 8 months pregnant with Niko....  just saying!

A boy and his cat

Niko loves the fact that Matrix will play 'crazy string' with him.  He was laughing so hard that he cackled!   Don't mind the disaster living room... that is a nightly event.

Niko's Garden 2012

Niko and I had a busy day of gardening.  I should have taken a photo of what this space looked like before 20 minutes of weed pulling.  It looked like I was gardening crab grass and clovers.

Niko didn't really help as much as run around the yard begging for crab apples from the front tree.  He loves eating them even though they are so sour they make is face pucker up.

Here is the 2012 version of Niko's garden.  We have two cherry tomato plants and one regular one.   Niko really like his cherry tomatoes last year so  I decided to double them up this year.  We have a red and green pepper plant as well.  I am looking for some herbs to plant in the open space....

When we were at the store, Niko begged me for this planting set.  It has more tomatoes and some banana peppers in it.  Good thing I have more space in the garden!  I am starting some herb seedlings in the black containers.

Niko really liked the fact that the dirt pellets expanded right away.  He did a really good job of putting the seeds into the little pots and kept running back to see if they have sprouted yet.  I tried to tell him it will be a while, but ever 15 minutes or so he went back to check on them.  It's going to be a long week!

Officer Friendly

As someone who works with amazing officers everyday, I love seeing them in classrooms.  Niko's class had a visitor from someone in the Merriam Police Department to do a meet and greet with the kids.  These kind of classes are so important because some kids never have a positive experience with law enforcement.  These kind of outreach programs show kids that officers are there to help them and how to be safe around strangers.

Poly-Pool Time

Today was pretty hot and none of the public pools are open yet, so we had to create swim time on our own.  It's amazing how much fun a kid can have with about 4" of water and a few toys.  The last picture about says it all.  :)

One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish

You know you have read a book to your child often, when one day he 'reads' it back to you!  The Easter Bunny brought this book to Niko and it has quickly become his favorite.

Spring school photos

Picked up Niko's Spring school photos this week.  I think he's a good mix between Neil and I to be honest... I see both of us in him.  :)
